Topocentric Primary Directions and the many non-mainstream
techniques that he shared with us in his articles and books.
Isaac Starkman for his friendship, his prolific rectifications,
and for writing the wonderful Polaris program.
Noel Tyl for his many insights, person-centered astrological
precepts, and his wonderful forum. More than anyone else, it
was Noel who gave the feeling that doing astrology work was
something noble, that it was something of which we should be
proud.
I have been doing Astrology over 33 years now, with much of that time split between
doing personal readings and doing research into various techniques. [I have a 1st Place
State Math Award (Illinois), so my approach has always been along the more
mathematical/technical.] My initial foray into Astrology was actually to learn enough
astrology so that I could argue astrologers into submission that their “art” was junk and
not remotely scientific. I could not have been further from the Truth. From several
early experiences of reading specific things from charts that were impossible to be
coincidental, it started me off on this course with gusto. I used to be a manager at the
U.S. Postal Service and each two weeks, when we would get paid, I would go to the
Rainbow Moods bookstore and buy two more astrology books, which I would devour
and work through the examples; until the next fix in two weeks. This went on for years.
I have done consultation weekend clinics with counselors, where they would do their
“clinical magic” in a group session format and then they would come to me to explain
where the problems were and what was developmentally necessary. It was at one of
these seminar weekends that a participant paid me a compliment that touched me so
much in the moment, I was speechless. While here in Munich, I used to do weekend
slam readings (15 minute readings, led by me, with no pre-work of charts), where 18 to
23 loving souls would jump into the chair across from me and get a quick but often
overwhelming experience with Astrology.
Currently, I am still doing astrological research and reading for people when I can.
When I have spare time, I have often jumped on Reddit AskAstrologers and race
through to answer questions…some basic, some extremely in-depth. The PDF file in the
Comments section are the responses over a three month period or so to things that I
have said to people with various questions/circumstances.
To describe my approach to Astrology, it would quickly be seen to fit my horoscope. On
the one side, there is the extreme technicality of Mars square Uranus, Pluto in the 3rd in
Virgo, Mercury in Gemini informational side; but that is contrasted by my Cancer Sun,
Moon, and Ascendant and Sun-Jupiter-Neptune Grand Trine, which is more
emotional/intuitive/intangible in approach.
